Authentic Vintage Khmer Angkor carved from sandstone torso.
Khmer sculpture
refers to the stone sculpture of the
Khmer Empire
, which ruled a territory based on modern
Cambodia
, but rather larger, from the 9th to the 13th century. The most celebrated examples are found in
Angkor
, which served as the seat of the empire.

with stand height 16 1/2"   base 5 3/4"  x 3 7/8 "
This statue was purchased at an antique store in Bangkok Thailand, in 1985 along with two other pieces. A Certificate of Authenticity was included at that time but has since been misplaced. ( The COA can be viewed on the "Ayudhya Buddha" also available for purchase.)
